Honor View 20 now official with 48MP rear camera and Kirin 980

Huawei was teasing the Honor View 20 earlier this month, with expectations that the handset would be officially unveiled on December 26 at an event in Beijing.

Sure enough, the big day has arrived and the handset from Huawei’s sub-brand is now official. The handset boasts some powerful specifications and features, but Honor is still aiming to keep the price tag low. You’ll still find an LCD display, for instance, and there is only one camera on the back rather than two or three. The Honor View 20 does feature a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera, though.

Here’s how it all breaks down. The Honor View 20 features a 6.4-inch LCD display with minimized bezels. There are two variants, one with 6GB of RAM and the other with 8GB of RAM, while there are two storage options as well: 128GB and 256GB. There is a 4000mAh battery under the hood and a Kirin 980 processor to make sure everything keeps trucking along. The View 20 also has a fingerprint reader on the back of the handset and it will be available in Blue, Red, and Black.

The front-facing camera is hidden behind the hole-punch cutout in the top corner of the handset, similar to what we’ve seen from Samsung and its “Infinity-O” design. That front camera is a 25MP shooter. Around back there is the 48MP Sony IMX586 CMOS sensor.

The Honor View 20 is launching in China first, priced at CNY 2,999 (~$435) for the 6GB/128GB option and CNY 3,499 (~$510) for the 8GB/128GB variant. Meanwhile, the 8GB/256GB Honor View 20 is priced at CNY 3,999 (~$580). Honor is planning an international launch in early 2019, with an announcement event slated for January 22 of next year.
