A lot of people got excited about the prospect of a new Moto Z2 Play, especially since its predecessor was known for its great battery life.
Well if recent leaks are to be believed, the Moto Z2 Play might not be able to offer such as an advanced battery life after. According to VentureBeat, the Moto Z2 Play is poised to arrive with a 3,000 mAh battery. That’s 510 mAh smaller than the power pack inside the original Moto Z Play.
A byproduct of reducing battery size is that Motorola managed to slim down the body of the device with one full millimeter, while also taking 20g off its weight. The current Moto Z Play model has a 7mm frame and weighs 165g.
According to the marketing materials obtained by the publication, the Moto Z2 Play should be offer to offer up to 30 hours of life, down from a hefty 50.
Moreover, we’re told the device will arrive with an improved Snapdragon 626 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz plus 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, an upgrade from last year’s model.
The new phone is also said to come with a better 16-megapixel main camera with f/2.0 aperture, but to retain the 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 1920 x 1080 resolution. It will ship in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold.
No word on when it will actually be released.
