Following last week’s leaks, Amazon has today introduced the second-generation voice activated speaker, the Echo Show.
Unlike the cylindrically-shape Amazon Echo, the Echo Show comes boasting a 7-inch touchscreen, as well as a frontal 5-megapixel camera – so it’s quite different from the latter, at least visually. Nevertheless, it’s powered by the AI-driven wits of Amazon’s virtual assistant, Alexa, like its predecessor.
The new Echo Show can play music from your favorite streaming services including Amazon Music, Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn Radio and iHeartRadio.
It includes Dolby-powered speakers and eight noise-cancelling microphones. On top of that the Echo show is compatible with a host of loT devices including Netgear’s family of Arlo smart home cameras.
Another note-worthy addition is Echo Show’s ability to make phone calls to any Alexa-enable devices and smartphones with the Alexa app installed onboard.
Thanks to the 7-inch display, customers can now watch a YouTube video right on the Echo Show or place a video call by virtue of a simple voice command.
The Echo Show is currently available for pre-order in black or white coloring options in the US. It costs $229 and will become available starting June 28. At the moment, we don’t have any information on the official Canadian launch, but we’ll keep you posted once more information becomes available.
