LG G6 Could Start Selling Before the Samsung Galaxy S8

The LG G5 was a letdown in terms of sales, but the Korean tech giant is hoping its upcoming G6 flagship will be better received by the Android community.

And this year, the device maker might have a strategy to ensure the LG G6 gets more attention. As it is customary, both Samsung and LG will launch their 2017 flagships during the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona–but there’s a catch.

According to a recent report from South Korea, LG should unveil the G6 on February 26, a day before the convention kick starts. Afterwards the phone should hit retail shelves on March 10. This will ensure the LG G6 get some exposure before the Galaxy S8 beast gets unleashed by Samsung.

Speaking of Samsung, the Korean tech giant will introduce the Galaxy S8 during the same event in Spain, but the retail availability of the product will come a bit later. After the Galaxy Note7 fiasco, Samsung probably wants be extra careful not to release another dangerous handset so quality assurance session might take longer than usual.

If rumors are to be believed, the Galaxy S8 will be made available for purchase sometime in mid-April, which gives the LG G6 a bit of time to steal the spotlight for itself.
