Nexus 5 further detailed in 7 minute video and hands-on pictures

By now we’ve seen and heard practically everything there is to know on Google and LG’s upcoming Nexus 5, but what’s another video and set of pictures going to hurt, right?

Over the weekend, a full 7 minute video detailing the Nexus 5 was put on YouTube that gives us an in-depth look at a pre-production unit that should be a close match with what finally hits shelves sometime in the next couple months. As you can see in the video below, the Nexus 5 is a slick device with a more squared off look than the Nexus 4. It looks like it’s made out of a soft-touch plastic, features a round earpiece and a speaker / microphone area that looks similar to what Apple has done with the iPhone 5. As for how the Nexus 5 in the video would differ from a production model, there will be a Nexus logo on the back, and that’s about it.

Along with the new video, four decently high quality pictures of the Nexus 5 have been posted on Google+ “from Russia with love.” The pictures come from user Anton Kuznetsov, who says they aren’t his in the comments for the photo album. These pictures are exactly we expect to see when the handset is officially released.

Original rumors suggested that the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat would be released on October 14 or 15. But unless Google isn’t planning anything fancy, and is just going to put out a bland press release, you can consider that rumor dead. The only other specific date that’s been going around is October 31, but we’ve yet to hear anything solid on that date. At this point it seems the device is all but ready to go, hopefully Google is just making sure everything is perfect this time around. The launches for the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 weren’t pretty.
