AT&T launching second 5G smartphone in 2019

Ready or not, 5G is here. The major U.S. carriers have been hyping their upcoming 5G networks recently, and in the past couple days, we’ve seen both Sprint and Verizon announce plans for their first 5G smartphone, which will be made by Samsung. Now AT&T is joining the party, announcing that it will offer its second 5G smartphone in the second half of 2019. This smartphone will be made by Samsung and will be able to access both of AT&T’s two types of 5G networks, mmWave and sub-6GHz. Additionally, rumor has it that this smartphone will be the Samsung Galaxy S10.

This smartphone comes in addition to AT&T’s previous announcement for a 5G smartphone arriving in the first half of 2019, again designed by Samsung. This first smartphone, however, will only be able to access AT&T’s mmWave network. AT&T is also set to launch Netgear’s commercial 5G mobile hotspot this month that will be able to access AT&T’s mmWave network.
