Android TV is quickly gaining popularity, and it seems that much of the adoption is happening in Europe and Asia. Over 100 pay TV operators have integrated the service into their offerings around the world and it’s really starting to pay off.
Shalini Govil-Pai, senior director of product management for Android TV, says that “tens of millions” of people are now using the platform globally and have have started using it thanks to partners adopting it.
Here in the US, it’s not nearly as popular. Though many TVs ship with Android TV, cable companies have not been adopting it nearly as rapidly. DirecTV is soon launching a set-top box with Android TV and others will hopefully follow suit. But it’s good to hear that the platform is succeeding globally.
