Nokia 7.1 update to Android 9 Pie is rolling out now, coming to other Nokia handsets soon

While the Nokia 7.1 isn’t going to be putting any of the flagship phones to shame in the specs department, as of today it does have one thing that some of its higher-priced competitors lack and that is an update to Android Pie.

Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer for HMD Global, took to Twitter early this morning to announce the news.

He was quick to clarify that it would be a “phased roll-out” so depending on where you are located you may not have the update available quite yet, but expect it in the coming days.

Replying to a fan’s question regarding when it would be coming to the 2017 Nokia phones he simply responded: “For sure, across the portfolio as fast as possible!!!” Not exactly a hard date or firm commitment regarding the devices, but it’s good to see a response to such a question rather than ignoring it. Owners of the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco are going to be holding Nokia’s feet to the fire on the update timing as they were promised as recently as last month that their Android Pie update would arrive in November, which is quickly slipping away.

Are any of you that are using the Nokia 7.1? We’d love to hear about it and what your experience is like with it after the Android Pie update.
