HTC U12+ update improves pressure-sensitive buttons, adds camera features

Heads up, U.S.-based HTC U12+ owners, because there’s a new software update now rolling out that you’re going to want to download.

The new HTC U12+ update that’s now rolling out in the U.S. (it was released in Taiwan earlier this month) bumps the phone to version 1.21.617.3. Included are new camera features like auto zoom for video recording and 4K 30fps video recording without a time limit, as well as enhancements to the U12+’s pressure-sensitive buttons. The update also includes improvements to battery life and system performance as well as the June 2018 Android security patches.

This update is now rolling out over the air. If you’d rather not wait for the OTA to hit your phone, you can manually check for the 437.1MB update by going into Settings > System > About phone > Software updates > Check now on your HTC U12+.

This update sounds pretty nice for owners of HTC’s flagship Android phone. Not only are their some new camera features to tinker with, but it aims to improve the HTC U12+’s pressure-sensitive buttons, which received a lot of criticism when the device launched earlier this year. And of course, improved battery life and performance are always welcome.

If you’ve got an HTC U12+, be sure to let us know what you think of your phone’s performance and pressure-sensitive buttons after installing this update!
