We saw the Motorola-branded Moto Z3 Play leak out a couple of different times, which was all leading up to today’s official unveiling.
The newest mid-range Motorola smartphone has been officially announced, with an initial launch happening in Brazil beginning today and a global rollout planned for sometime later this month. The Moto Z3 Play offers a 6.01-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080p HD+ and 18:9 aspect ratio. It has a 79% screen-to-body display ratio thanks to the minimized bezels.
There are two variants to choose from, with either 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage, both of which support a microSD card for up to 2TB of additional storage. Both variants offer 4GB of RAM, and both are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. The Moto Z3 Play is also equipped with face unlock and a fingerprint reader for good measure.
The Moto Z3 Play also offers Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, a 3000mAh battery, a USB-C port for charging, and splash resistance. It will be available in a Deep Indigo color. It also supports the Moto Mods system for attachable accessories, which include external batteries and other options.
Motorola says that the Moto Z3 Play will be available this summer in the United States from Sprint and U.S. Cellular. It will also be available as an unlocked handset from retailers like Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Fry’s, and B&H Photo, and there will also be a Amazon Prime Exclusive Phone option, too. At retail spots the Moto Z3 Play will be packaged with a battery Moto Mod for $499.
