We don’t see a ton of smartphones come to market with styluses in tow, but LG has a family of them, and today that family is getting a new member.
The LG Q Stylus is now official, and it comes with a stylus that’ll let you take handwritten notes, which is something you can do even with the phone’s screen off. You can also use the stylus to personalize images and turn videos into GIFs.
Also included with the LG Q Stylus is a big screen for you to write on. Specifically, it’s a 6.2-inch 2160×1080 panel. The body of the LG Q Stylus is IP68 water and dust resistant, the phone is powered by a 3300mAh battery, and there’s a rear fingerprint reader for added security.
Now, it’s worth mentioning that there are actually three different versions of the LG Q Stylus, each with slightly different specs. The top-end model is the LG Q Stylus+, and it comes with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. It’s also equipped with a 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus and either an 8MP or 5MP wide angle front camera.
Then there’s the standard LG Q Stylus. It’s got 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, along with a microSD card slot if you need more storage. Around back there’s a 16MP camera with phase detection autofocus, and on the front is either an 8MP or 5MP wide angle camera.
Finally, the LG Q Stylus α has a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus and a 5MP wide angle front-facing camera. There’s 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage in there, too, along with a microSD card slot like the other two models.
LG says that the Q Stylus and its variants will launch “on a limited basis” beginning this month. The phones will be available in North America and Asia. No prices have been given quite yet, but LG has said that they’ll be “exceptionally-priced midrange phones.”
Stylus-equipped smartphones aren’t for everyone, but for those that like them, it’s nice to see LG continue pumping out new devices that are more affordable alternatives to the higher-end models on the market.
