We know that BlackBerry and TCL plan to announce their newest smartphone collaboration, the BlackBerry Key2, on June 7. And the companies have been teasing the handset as an “icon reborn” leading up to that date.
But thanks to serial leaker Evan Blass, we pretty much already know what to expect. And now, Blass has taken to Twitter to pull the curtain all the way back and not only reveal how much the upcoming smartphone will cost, but its full specs sheet, too.
The Key2 is going to be another mid-range smartphone, following in the original model’s footsteps. That includes a 4.5-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB of RAM, and either 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage. It will support microSD cards up to 256GB. The major change in this model is going to be the camera setup on the back, which will now include a pair of 12-megapixel shooters. Meanwhile, around front there is an 8MP camera.
The battery measures in at 3500mAh, it’s running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, has a 3.5mm headphone jack, and there is the relatively big physical keyboard below the display, which really makes the Key2 stand out.
Blass also revealed how much the handset will cost when it goes on sale. In the United States you’ll have to fork over $649 to make the Key2 yours, $100 more than the KeyONE last year. It will retail for €649 EU/£579 GB/$829 CA in other regions.
So, there we have it. BlackBerry and TCL are still going to announce the Key2 tomorrow, June 7, so maybe we’ll have a surprise on our hands.
