For Razer Phone owners out there who have been eagerly anticipating their Android 8.0 Oreo update, Razer has announced a different plan.
According to the company’s official Twitter account, Razer will be skipping the Android 8.0 Oreo update and going straight to Android 8.1 on the Razer Phone instead. The company confirmed the update plans along with a broad update window, saying that the new software will land on the Razer Phone in “mid to late April 2018.”
Razer is also opening up a developer preview of Android 8.1 on the Razer Phone. Owners can use this link to try out the new software ahead of its public launch next month.
It’s worth noting that if you do opt for the developer preview, there will not be an over-the-air (OTA) update to the official public release when that becomes available. Users will have to flash that factory image directly when Razer makes it available.
If you’re a Razer Phone owner, do you plan on signing up for the developer preview, or will you wait for the public launch?
