Samsung may drop the ‘S’ branding for next year’s flagship

Now that the Samsung Galaxy S9 has launched, we can look forward to the next flagship from the company. Obviously because we can’t be content with the current offerings that aren’t even on the market yet. But what will it be called?

We don’t know, but it may not be called the Galaxy S10. Samsung head of mobile division DJ Koh says that the company is considering moving away from the S series. Let’s face it, the S10 doesn’t exactly look or sound great.

The entire lineup might get a change in name, but the Galaxy brand will definitely stick around. It’s not likely that the name change would change much else, but it might give Samsung a fresh start with branding. As for the effect on the everyday consumer, most people know their phones as a “Galaxy” anyway.
