It was initially rumored back in November of this year that Huawei would be making its big debut in the United States in 2018, and that rumor was subsequently confirmed by the company earlier this month.
Now speculation over which carrier, or carriers, will be working with Huawei to bring the Mate 10 to the U.S. are in full swing. A recent report from The Information suggests that Huawei is planning on launching that handset on AT&T in February of next year.
That same report also states that Huawei is planning on a $100 million marketing push in the United States which will accompany their flagship smartphone launch on a major U.S. wireless carrier. There have been rumors swirling that Huawei has been in talks with Verizon Wireless, too, so it’s possible that the Mate 10 bows in on the two largest carriers in the U.S., which would be good news for Huawei to be sure.
Huawei is a huge brand outside of the U.S., so it will be interesting to see if launching a flagship phone on a major US carrier will have any impact on the company. Huawei phones have technically been available to buy in the United States from the likes of Amazon and Best Buy, but having a presence on a wireless carrier can go a long way to making a difference.
