Amazon Fire TV gets Firefox and Silk web browsers

Remember when some some Amazon Fire TV devices gained a Silk web browser last month? Well now all of the other Fire TV hardware is getting in on the action.

Amazon today confirmed that all Fire TV customers can browse the web. The feature is available in more than 100 countries and territories.

To begin browsing, you’ll just need to download the Mozilla Firefox or Amazon Silk web browser. You can then browse browse social networks, browse video sharing sites, visit news sites, and more.

The arrival of web browsers on the Amazon Fire TV is a big deal. Not only do they make it easy to browse the web on your television, but as Amazon points out, you can use Firefox and Silk to visit “video sharing services.” That means that they’ll come in handy if Google does end up pulling YouTube from the Fire TV on January 1st.
