Instagram needs to make sure that it can keep growing its user base and that it holds onto the existing users at the same time. One way to do that is to continuously add new features.
A new report from The Next Web shines a light on which features Instagram may be working on. First up is a way to “regram” content. The report indicates that some Instagram users that have access to the beta version of the app are seeing two arrows that form a circle next to the standard Like, Comment, and Direct buttons.
As it stands right now, there’s no official word on what that button does. However, based on its design, it’ss highly likely it means users will be able to share someone else’s photo or video to their own feed. This is something that’s present in some third-party apps, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Instagram folding it into the stock experience.
Instagram is also testing the ability to search for GIFs which users can then be added to an individual Stories. Once you find a GIF you’ll be able to move it and resize it.
Other features rumored to be in testing by Instagram is the ability to archive Stories and something called “Closest Friends,” which would make it easier to share photos with your closest friends via the app. Instagram might make it easier to share directly to the WhatsApp, too.
What do you think of these new features? Any must-haves?
