Android Oreo is here. In fact, it was released almost three months ago for Google’s own devices. There have been a couple Oreo beta tests here and there, and a few phones are launching with the latest version of Android pre-installed, but the results aren’t impressive.
The Android distribution numbers are in for November, and Oreo is up to 0.3%. This is a huge 50% jump from last month’s 0.2%, but that’s still almost nothing. Nougat has gotten a nice boost from 17.8% to 20.6%, marking over a fifth of all Android devices accessing Google Play Services running a fairly recent version of Android. Both Marshmallow and Lollipop are steadily dropping, though the former still holds almost a third of the market share.
Let’s hope that enough devices are updated by the end of the year to get to 10%.
