ASUS has never been of those OEMs that provide swift software updates to its handsets. But apparently, Taiwanese device maker wants to improve in this department.
Hot on the heels of its Zenfone 4 lineup announcement, ASUS made some bold statements about future software updates.
It appears the company wants to step up its game, so it promised all models in the Zenfone 4 series – which includes the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 4 Pro, Zenfone 4 Selfie, Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro, Zenfone 4 Max and Zenfone 4 Max Pro will get the Android O update.
But wait that’s not all, ASUS also said Zenfone 3 models will be getting the update – meaning the Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Zoom and Zenfone 3 Max. At the same time, ASUS said nothing about the high-end Zenfone AR model.
When can we expect to see the new update make a debut on all these Zenfone models? According to ASUS, the Android O update will land in the second quarter of 2018. Google should unleash the new update towards the end of this month, so ASUS won’t be updating its models overnight.
During the same Zenfone 4 event, ASUS also unveiled ZenUI 4.0 which is based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Most notably, the new UI cuts down on bloatware including “only” 13 pre-installed apps, as opposed to the 35 apps of the ZenUI 3.0.
