Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7 in the U.S. getting updated to Android 7.0

Carrier variants of Samsung‘s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge started receiving their updates to Android 7.0 Nougat months ago, and now the unlocked variants are finally getting the new software, too.

Last week the unlocked variant of the Galaxy S7 edge in the United States was updated to Android Nougat, and now the unlocked Galaxy S7 in the U.S. is getting the same update. It measures in at 1226MB and includes all of the noteworthy features included in Android 7.0, including updates to the UX and more.

If you have an eligible device, you can keep an eye out for the OTA update. If you want to check on it yourself, simply head into Settings –> About –> Download updates manually.

The rollout for Android 7.0 for these devices has been a strange one, because we’re used to seeing unlocked models get updated faster than carrier variants due to the extra testing they need to go through. Better late than never, though, right?

Will you be updating your phone today?
