Though many of the carrier models of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have already received the Android 7.0 Nougat update, the unlocked models have yet to receive their updates in the US.
The unlocked S7 edge is finally getting the update to Nougat, but only through the Samsung Smart Switch computer program. There’s no OTA rolling out at the moment, and the standard S7 is not seeing the same update.
Despite the long delays, the update is a good one. It brings an enhanced Doze mode, split screen multitasking, double-tapping the recent apps button will switch between the last two apps, notifications have been improved, and a lot more. If you own an unlocked S7 edge, you can download Smart Switch and grab the update or wait for the OTA.
