Motorola is no stranger to the tablet market, but it’s been many years since it waded into that pool. That could be changing soon.
Android Police reports that the Lenovo-owned Motorola is currently building a tablet that may have a “premium feel” and bring in a new feature that could certainly catch some attention.
First, the few details the publication offers. It is expected that the unnamed Motorola tablet will feature a display between 9 and 10 inches and that it will boast a “premium look and feel.” They don’t have any information regarding storage, RAM, processor, or anything like that just yet. However, they do believe it’s possible that some models may feature cellular connectivity.
That aforementioned new feature can be seen in the image just above. It’s reportedly being called “Productivity Mode,” and it will allow for some pretty straightforward multitasking, but with a few UI tweaks to make it work. The report indicates that users will be able to flip a toggle, switch into this specific mode, and then they will be able to pin app icons into the navigation bar on the bottom of the screen.
From there, they will be able to tap on an icon to immediately switch to that app. The report suggests it’s possible the app will be running in the background, which would make that multitasking worthwhile, but there’s no confirmation on that just yet. To close an app, users will just need to long-press on an app icon and then slide it up away from the navbar.
Not much to go on, but the scant information available certainly paints an interesting picture. What do you think of the idea of a productivity mode?
