We have a new leak for the Moto Z2 Play and this time it’s the spec list. Though it’s a good improvement all around, the downside is that Lenovo has considerably shrunk the battery this year.
Last year’s 3,510mAh battery is replaced with a 3,000mAh battery, slimming the 7mm body down by one millimeter and 20 grams at the expense of battery life. Though some might like this decision, 7mm was already reasonably thin and battery life is as important as ever.
Other spec upgrades include the jump from a Snapdragon 625 to a 626, 4GB of RAM rather than 3GB, 64GB of internal memory rather than 32GB, and the same display at 5.5 inches and full HD 1080p. The rear camera has gone from a 16MP f/2.0 sensor to a 12MP f/1.7 sensor, likely improving the overall quality despite the loss in megapixels. It will also launch with Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
While it’s an overall solid upgrade over last year’s model, the loss of battery life is unfortunate. However it still seems to be a very capable device.
