Google is certainly no stranger to the hardware business these days, thanks in part to the popular Google Pixel smartphones and Google Home smart speaker. But if a pair of headphones revealed in a recent FCC filing are an indicator, there’s another market that Google aims to latch onto at some point in the future.
As spotted by Liliputing, there are a pair of Bluetooth noise canceling headphones with the Google logo making the rounds at the FCC. The filing reveals that the headphones have an over-the-ear by design and that they will also include a built-in microphone for taking phone calls. They will charge over microUSB and will include an optional cable with in-line volume controls and play/pause functionality.
Here are the specs for the upcoming headphones, just in case you want the nitty gritty details:
- Dynamic driver with a 40mm diameter and 32 Ohms impedence.
- Frequency range: 12Hz – 20KHz
- ANC Peak value: >25dB
- ANC bandwidth: 25Hz – 1 KHz
- Battery capacity: 600 mAh
- Battery life: >25 hours BT streaming without ANC / > 16 hours with ANC on / > 10 hours at max volume level
- Dimensions: 195.5mm x 170.5mm x 94.5mm
These headphones could be meant for the official Google Merchandise Store, which could mean these won’t be positioned as a consumer goods product, but made available only for Google employees if they don’t like the plethora of options already available to them. Either that, or we could see another pair of wireless headphones announced by Google later this year.
What do you think of the design of these Google-branded headphones? Would you buy them, depending on price?
