T-Mobile will reimburse the sales tax on your new smartphone

If you’ve been thinking about buying a new T-Mobile smartphone, T-Mo’s latest promotion may put you over the edge.

T-Mobile today announced its latest offer, which will reimburse you for the sales tax that you pay on a new smartphone. You just need to buy a new phone on an Equipment Installment Plan, enter your account info and the promo code 17DEVICECREDIT on T-Mo’s promotions webpage, and then you’ll get a prepaid MasterCard card worth 11.2 percent of your phone’s cost (11.55 percent in Puerto Rico) to cover the sales tax.

This new deal begins on February 1 and runs for a limited time. Both new and existing customers are eligible to take part, but you will need to be on a T-Mobile One plan or Simple Choice Unlimited 4G LTE plan in order to take advantage of the deal.

T-Mobile has been focused on simplifying its offerings in 2017. Earlier this month, T-Mo revealed Un-carrier Next, which brought an all-in T-Mobile One plan with taxes and fees built-in so that the price you see is the price you pay. Now this promotion is trying to do something similar by simplifying the final price of your smartphone by refunding you the sales tax so that you can treat yourself to a new case for your phone, a lunch, or something else.
