LG G6 renders indicate no modular design

If rumors are to be believed, LG has plans to launch their next flagship smartphone, the LG G6, sometime in early 2017.

When that first rumor cropped up, a single render came along with it, showing off a design that seemed similar enough at a glance to the G5 before it. Now we have new renders to stare at thanks to @OnLeaks and GearIndia. The images show both the front and back of the sleek handset.

If the renders pan out, then we’ll see an LG G6 that shares an overall design cue from the G5, but one that features less-rounded corners. There will be a dual-camera setup on the back, along with the fingerprint sensor below that. At the bottom, it appears LG will be adopting a USB Type-C port, and LG is keeping the 3.5mm headphone jack around a bit longer, which is positioned at the top.

The most notable aspect of these new renders, though, is the lack of any modular design. There does not appear to be any indications that LG will be following the same route as the G5 with next year’s flagship.

As far as other rumored features go, the G6 is said to boast a 5.3-inch display with a 2560×1440 resolution. There will be a dual LED flash along with the dual-camera setup, and there will apparently be both matte and glossy finishes to choose from when it launches.

What do you think of the rumors swirling around the G6?
