Have a newer Nexus device laying around the house? Then you better get it out because in a few days Android 7.1.1 will start rolling out.
According to Rogers, Android 7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P will be made available to customers starting December 5 in the country. From here, we can extrapolate that other Nexus devices like the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6 or Nexus Player are also bound to get the newest Android build around the same date.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL are also scheduled to get the new build, but they already run Android 7.1 so the jump will be a small one.
Android 7.1 is available for Nexus 5X, 6P and Pixel C via the Developer Preview, with the DP2 only adding support to the Nexus 9.
Android 7.1.1 will bring bug fixes and security patches, but also new emoji featuring ladies and gentlemen of different professions and the ability for devs to add app shortcuts.
As for the Pixel phones they will probably get those nifty double tap to check phone / lift to check phone features that have been exclusive only to Pixel owners in Canada so far. Who knows–maybe the Nexus will be inheriting them too?
