Good news for American Express card holders in Canada, as the company has announced a new mobile payment system called Amex Pay.

The NFC payment system comes embedded in the Amex CA app for Android. To get started, users need to connect their card, hover their phone over a compatible scanner and pay.

Amex Pay is quite similar to what Android Pay, Samsung Pay and Apple Pay offer, although given that this service is bound to American Express, there are some other perks to be taken into consideration.

For example, once you connect your card to your phone you’ll be able to pay even if forget your card at home one day or you lose it for good. In the later scenario, when the replacement card arrives, users won’t be required to add it again, as it will already be connected thanks to a Device Card Number.

Amex Pay works well with any Amex card members like Consumer, Small Business or Corporate Cards issued by Amex Bank of Canada. Users are allowed to add up to 6 cards onto one device.

It’s worth noting that American Express was the first to offer Apple Pay support in Canada when the service launched back in 2015.
