Is 2016 The Year Of The Foldable Phone?

Samsung has been playing around with the idea of a foldable phone/tablet for some time now and at least one group of analysts believe that in 2016, these devices will becomes a reality. The analysts at HSBC strongly believe that Samsung will roll out this new unique form factor as early as H2 2016. Their basic rationale is that Samsung wants to/needs to bring a game changing device to the table in order to regain some of the market share.

Obviously, a foldable phone would be a major game changer. Not only would it have that “cool” factor but it would offer a large screen at a minimal footprint, a dream come true for many consumers out there.

Samsung hasn’t publicly said anything about such a device yet so this is definitely to be filed in the rumour folder. Nevertheless, I don’t think any of us would be overly surprised if Samsung did bring something like this to the table this year. This could be a big time game changer if they get it right and get it right right out of the gate!
