Android Distribution Numbers Out For December, Marshmallow Bumps Up To 0.5%

The numbers are finally in for the last month of 2015 as Google has updated their Android distribution numbers for December. These numbers are updated by Google at roughly the start of every month for developers to look at so they can generalize what version of Android their potential install base is running and act upon it.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow debuted two months ago, and since then the version has gained only 0.5% of the total share (up 0.2% from last month), while Lollipop continues to grow to sit at 29.5% in total (up nearly 5%).

Aside from that, every other version sees a decline, except for the dreaded Android 2.2 Froyo which for almost a year, has stayed at 0.2%. With LG, Motorola, Sony and Samsung set to announce the OTAs for Marshmallow, here’s hoping 2016 is a much better year.
