The last year or so has marked a major shift in the tablet market. Sony’s last tablet with a large 10.1-inch display — the Xperia Z2 Tablet — was released at a time when there were a number of other tablets offering that kind of screen real estate. These days, phablets are encroaching upon the small tablet market which should in turn mean interest in 10.1-inch displays should be on the rise. Instead we’re seeing Sony’s competitors moving to 4:3 aspect ratios for their flagships, akin to the trend first popularised with that fruit company’s tablet.
