In addition to the new “super mid-range” Sony Xperia M5, Sony also announced a new phablet today, the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra. As you may gather from the “Ultra” moniker, this phone is not for the small of hand, here are the specs:
- 6″ 1080p IPS Display
- 1.7GHz Octo-Core MediaTek MTK6752
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB Internal Storage
- microSD Card Slot
- 13MP Camera
- 13MP Front Facing Camera with Flash
- 2930 mAh Battery
- Android 5.0
Pretty decent all around specs if I may say so myself and like its predecessor the C3, the Xperia C5 Ultra falls into their PROselfie category so there is a major focus on the front facing camera. The 13MP front facing camera is equipped with its own flash to help you out in those darker selfie situations and the 22mm wide-angle lens will ensure you capture everyone in the frame.
Design wise, Sony has really pulled in those side bezels to the point that they’re barely noticeable. This really is a necessity given the massive 6″ display on the device. And just in case you need a little extra help in going one handed on this behemoth, Sony has implemented a one-handed mode on the device.
Like the Xperia M5, Sony is aiming this device at emerging markets so there’s no guarantee that this will make it to Canada. The launch isn’t far off though, mid-August, so perhaps we’ll get some more details then.
