LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition getting its taste of Lollipop

If you’ve got an LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition laying around, then your weekend is about to get a lot sweeter.

Android 5.0 is now making its way to the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition. Many owners are reporting that the 405.4MB update is rolling out over the air and hitting their tablets, complete with a Material design makeover, lock screen notifications, battery saving mode and more.

Google Play edition devices frequently get major Android updates around the same time as Nexus hardware, so it’s no surprise to see the LG G Pad 8.3 GPe getting its Lollipop update already. Because we didn’t know exactly when the rollout would begin, though, it is nice to see it arriving today.

Be sure to let us know when Android 5.0 hits your LG G Pad 8.3! Until it does, you can check out our hands-on video of Lollipop on the Nexus 7 (2013) to get an idea of what Android 5.0 looks like on a tablet.
