Screenshots From Possible New Android Version Show Up

It’s been almost 8 months since Android 4.4 KitKat was announced to the public, and while that doesn’t seem that long ago, it makes a huge difference when it comes to hardware, and in this case, software. So with Google I/O less than two days away, we might actually see a new release as all signs are pointing towards an “L” release thanks to recent Git commits on the AOSP master branch (what Android is made from).

New screenshots taken from the now-deleted Chromium issue tracker thread reveal quite a few differences. First, being the obvious never before seen dialog box and Chrome browser UI and second, with the “L” icon on the status bar in the top left and the “mute” notifications icon currently found on Chrome and Google+.

Another significant difference is the removal of the gradient on the status and on-screen buttons which was added in KitKat. I don’t know why Google did this, but since it’s probably from an older build, it’s better to wait for Google I/O starting Wednesday.
