Flappy48 is the unholy spawn of Flappy Bird and Threes

In the world of mobile, we have all kinds of different levels of success when it comes to apps. Some apps are sleeper hits with a small cult following, others have massive long-term appeal and then there are the fad apps.

When you think of fad apps, probably the first thing that comes to mind is Dong Nguyen’s Flappy Bird , which was so addicting that the developer felt the need to pull it off the Play Store for good. Heck, even after it’s removal, Flappy Bird kept flapping away in the form of various clones.

After Flappy Birds, the iOS title Threes! became the “next big thing” in the world of fad apps, and eventually made its way to Android as well, alongside a hefty number of clones like Fives! and 2048.

So what happens when you take two of the most popular/controversial/addicting games of the year and mash them together? You get Flappy48 apparently. Basically the game takes the overall mechanics of Flappy Bird and adds the twist of giving you a “2″ tile that can be be increased as you make your way through the ‘pipes’ (or rather just darker colored shadows).

Can this mash-up enjoy the same level of buzz and addiction of the two games it is based upon? Only time will tell for sure, but you can check this one out for yourself via Google Play.
