Samsung to announce Exynos 6 and Exynos S at CES 2014?

A couple days ago Samsung hinted at a new Exynos processor to be announced at CES 2014. Well now it seems that Samsung has not one, but two big Exynos related announcements next month at the show.

The first chip is reportedly set to be the Exynos 6 “octa-core” SoC (System on a Chip) and will make its first appearance in the Galaxy S5. The second processor is to reportedly be called the “Exynos S”.

You may remember that back in November at Analyst Day, Samsung mentioned that they were not only working on a processor with ARM’s 64-bit core (The Exynos 6), but they were also working on another application processor with its own 64-bit core. Other details about the chip are unknown, but it will reportedly work 1.43 times better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

According to the same source, the Exynos 6 will work 1.53 times better than the Snapdragon 800, and speculation is that the it will be able to use both of its quad core CPU’s at the same time.

The rumors surrounding the Exynos processors is certainly very exciting, but we will have to wait until CES 2014 to see the full extent at which these chips can perform!
