After first introducing the N1 back at the tail end of September, Oppo today revealed when consumers will finally be able to purchase its new flagship smartphone. Oppo says that the N1 will be available in the U.S. and Europe starting Dec. 10, with pricing set at $599 and €449, respectively.
In exchange for their hard-earned cash, N1 buyers will be getting a device that features a 13-megapixel camera that can swivel 206 degrees, a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of storage. The Oppo N1 also sports a 5.9-inch 1080p display on its face as well as a 12cm O-Touch touchpad on its rear that is meant to help users navigate the N1′s software and take photos.
Speaking of software, the N1 comes preloaded with Android 4.2.2 beneath Oppo’s custom Color OS user interface. Users will also have the option of loading CyanogenMod onto the N1 directly through the device’s stock recovery. Folks that’d like to skip that step and get an N1 with the CyanogenMod ROM preinstalled will want to seek out the N1 CyanogenMod Edition, which is a limited edition model that Oppo will sell alongside the regular N1 in December, complete with special packaging and stickers.
Overall the Oppo N1 looks like a nice follow-up to 2012′s Find 5 and a pretty respectable flagship smartphone. Oppo isn’t the biggest Android device maker around, the company has become much more widely known in recent months, and the N1 has been the subject of quite a bit of teasing and hype. That’s why it’ll be interesting to see how the N1 sells once it launches on Dec. 10.
