HTC specifies Android 4.3 and 4.4 updates for Verizon HTC One and Droid DNA

HTC

HTC took to Twitter today to let everyone know when they should expect Android updates on their Verizon flagships. First up, they clarified that getting the HTC One onto 4.3 would be a two-step process, which includes a compatibility update and then the actual update. That strange update that One owners saw today was likely the compatibility update, and the actual update should happen sometime in December. Now, in case you were wondering if that was going to push the KitKat update further down the to-do list for HTC, that shouldn’t be the case. The 4.4 update is still on track to be delivered by the end of January. Hey, with how quickly Motorola got KitKat onto the Moto X on Verizon, there’s no reason why that shouldn’t be a realistic time frame.

HTC also clarified the update path for the Droid DNA. They didn’t give out quite as many details, but they said the 4.4 update for the DNA should be arriving by the end of January, “pending certification from your carrier.” Normally, that’s the last thing anyone would want to hear about updates on Verizon, but after today’s Moto X update, maybe it’ll happen.
