We think we have a pretty good idea about the specs and features of the upcoming Nexus 5, but on the software side, there’s still a fair amount of confusion about what Android 4.4 KitKat will bring to the table.
Today, we have two leaks to add to our already sizeable folder of Nexus 5/KitKat leaks. First, a few more hands-on images of the device, courtesy of a Russian site:
These pics don’t reveal much new, but they still serve to give us an idea of what the Nexus 5 will look and feel like. We get a look at the gesture lockscreen on Android 4.4, with the white status icons and the redesigned clock, which is no longer half bold.
Moving on to the second, and more interesting, leak, the folks at ZDNet got their hands on what appears to be a gallery of screenshots of an Android 4.4 build running on a Nexus 7 (2013). We get to see some of the features that have already leaked, like the Downloads app, but also some new stuff, such as a possible Easter egg in Android 4.4 KitKat. ZDNet didn’t specify the source of the screenshots.
Tapping multiple times on the Android version reveals the Easter egg below. The styling and the background of the Android logo remind us of the KitKat logo, though the version of the operating system is still Key Lime Pie. It’s likely that Google hadn’t changed yet all the references to KLP at the date this build was leaked.
Pressing on the Android logo reveals another Easter egg, a mosaic of the logos of the Android versions so far.
We also get a view of the Cloud Print screen, Downloads screen, and the new Tap & pay option in the Settings menu, all of which leaked in the past weeks.
There are some screenshots of the redesign clock app, including the alarm and timer.
The other screenshots don’t reveal much new. Notice that the app drawer still features a Widgets section and the black background, unlike the build leaked by Tutto Android , which we believe is more recent.
