Google's been heavily working on improving its Messages app, by enriching it with advanced features such as context-aware recommendations, a dark mode, RCS support, and a web interface. It's actually so popular it's been downloaded more than 500 million times by Android users.

U.S. senator Josh Hawley has announced the outline for a bill that could apply new consumer protections to video games played by minors. Specifically, it targets games played by those younger than eighteen years of age and aims to prohibit several forms of abusive monetization practices, such as loot boxes and pay-to-win elements. The goal is to have the Federal Trade Commission enforce the bill's proposed rules by treating the distribution of any offending games as unfair trade practices.

Adobe Scan updated to better capture forms, business cards, and more

There is no shortage of applications for scanning documents into PDF files — Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft Office Lens, and CamScanner are just a few. Adobe created its own scanner app in 2017, which offers integration with Acrobat Reader and the company's cloud storage. An update has just been released that makes the app even more powerful, with new modes and other features.

Shocker: Cheetah Mobile's CM Launcher keeps data in unsecured cloud storage

Mobile app empire Cheetah Mobile not only makes terrible software, but has even found its products ejected from the Play Store on occasion for breaking rules. If you somehow need more reasons not to use apps from the company, one developer has discovered that some applications, including CM Launcher, store data in an unsecured cloud storage bucket.

Developer Till Kottman tore apart the APK for CM Launcher 3D on Twitter, and among some sketchy calls to random servers, it was discovered that CM Launcher stores themes, icons, wallpapers, and other installable data in an unsecured Amazon AWS bucket.

The Eyes of Ara is a gorgeous puzzle adventure game now available on Android

The Eyes of Ara is a beautiful point-and-click adventure game that was initially released on PC back in 2016. At the time it was heralded as a top indie game for that year, and last June a mobile port made its way to iOS. Early this morning the game's developer 100 Stones Interactive announced on Twitter that The Eyes of Ara is now available on the Google Play Store.
