SiriusXM quietly arrives on Android TV

SiriusXM is a satellite/internet radio company, which has offered an Android smartphone app since 2010. The company has also embraced Android's other form factors - a Google TV app is still live on the Play Store. An Android TV version is now widely available, with seemingly no announcement from the company.

The app is already up to version 1.1, and since the changelog says "Added support for more Android TV devices," it may have only been available on select smart TVs.

Chrome Beta makes it easier to find the flags you changed

Chrome has a hidden 'flags' page, located at chrome://flags, where you can toggle various features and settings on and off. The page was redesigned not too long ago, but there's another helpful change now available in Chrome Beta, Dev, and Canary - the flags you manually enable or disable are now pushed to the top of the page.

This obviously makes it much easier to see which settings you have messed with.

Chrome Dev and Canary have a new video player, with YouTube's double-tap media controls

The video player on Chrome for Android has always closely mirrored (or looked identical to) the desktop Chrome video player. There's a play/pause button, a timeline, and whatever other controls the site has enabled (full-screen, volume, download, etc.). A brand new video player has appeared in Chrome Dev and Canary, with the same double-tap to fast-forward/rewind that the YouTube app added earlier this year.

The new design is obviously much different than the current layout.

Amazon acquires Blink, a smart home surveillance company

Amazon is acquiring Blink, a brand that knows what it’s doing when it comes to connected home surveillance equipment, likely in an effort to grow in that market.

Blink, a smart home surveillance company, has officially confirmed it has been bought up by Amazon. Blink says that its surveillance cameras will continue to work for the foreseeable future, so owners shouldn’t expect their devices to just give out on them. Blink offers cameras for both indoor and outdoor use, which range in price from $99.99 to $129.99.

As it stands right now, Amazon hasn’t said what it plans on doing with the Blink teams it has acquired. It stands to reason that we’ll see even more smart home devices, especially in the surveillance segment, coming from the company soon enough.

Of course, Amazon already announced its own smart connected camera not too long ago with the Amazon Key system, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room to grow. Acquiring companies is one way to do that.
