Stadia controller Capture button now works on Android

Also: OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro join catalog of compatible phones

The "Capture" button on the Stadia controller (pictured just above, it's the one with the square brackets near the center) now actually does what it's supposed to do when you're using it on an Android device. A recent update has rolled out the ability for it to actually capture screenshots and clips on Android phones.

The news was originally spotted yesterday on Reddit and confirmed today in a blog post from Google.

Google's cloud gaming service, Stadia, begins trialing on November 19 — you'll need to buy a $130 Founder's Edition kit to get access — and is expected to expand to the general audience sometime in 2020. So far, 30 games have been announced for the early roster and we expect more of them to pop up as we go along this year.

YouTube bringing topic filters to the web and iOS app

Previously available in the Android app, they're now expanding to other platforms

Last year, Google tested a more personal approach for YouTube in the Android app, rolling out a new design with topic filters that helped you trim down recommendations based on content. Following a wider rollout of the feature in the Android app, Google has now decided to expand it to the iOS app, and even YouTube on the web/desktop. Previously it was only available in English, but it will be expanding to French, Portuguese, and Spanish as well.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is launching on Stadia this holiday season

Same as PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, and Xbox One

Ubisoft dropped the first trailer for the year's annual Assassin's Creed title, Valhalla, today. It's coming this holiday season. The trailer didn't make mention of Stadia, but Ubisoft confirmed the game will be launching on Google's cloud gaming platform right alongside next- and current-gen consoles and PC.

If the title and key art didn't give it away, you play a viking warrior (who presumably also assassinates at least a couple people).
