YouTube TV update adds progressive fast-forward, new suggestions UI, and more

Google hiked the price of YouTube TV a few weeks back, but anyone who decided to stick with it will get getting a nice perk. Google is rolling out a substantial now playing UI update to all YouTube TV platforms that makes it easier to scrub through a recording, see what's playing, and more. You don't have to do anything to get the update, but there's no guarantee you'll have it just yet.

ActionDash 3.0 beats Google's Digital Wellbeing to adding a 'focus mode,' plus other improvements

ActionDash, the app from Chris Lacy (developer of Action Launcher), has recently reached v3.0, delivering even more Digital Wellbeing-like features to older or unsupported phones. A handful of big new features come with this major version update: Focus mode, app usage limits, and a persistent notification called Usage Assistant that provides ongoing stats. ActionDash 3.0 also brings a fully black dark theme, support for Android Q's dark theme system toggle, and non-premium users can now enjoy the dark gray theme.

[Update: It's live] YouTube Music will download up to 500 liked songs for offline playback automatically

Update 1: 2019/07/01 10:10am PDT
Rolling out

Google's move from Play Music to YouTube Music is still unresolved — especially since the final transition of libraries and uploaded content between the two still hasn't happened — but the latter is picking up a new feature to help with offline playback. "Smart Downloads," as it's called, will pull down up to 500 songs that you've "liked" via that button, intelligently selecting and downloading them over Wi-Fi for later enjoyment.

YouTube for Android TV hides a cute trotting dog Easter egg

Google's quirky side rarely shows up these days, but we're always reminded of the company's more fun and personable nature when we come across an Easter egg in its apps and services. The latest to be pointed out to us is in the YouTube app on Android TV and it's a cute dog that trots along the seek bar.

To get the doggie, you need to go up to the seek bar while playing a video, press the left button to go back, then keep it continuously pressed for about 10-15 seconds after it reaches the beginning of the video.
