Dolphin Emulator fixes rendering issues on Android Pie, adds Wii Remote emulation, and more

Dolphin, the much-loved Nintendo GameCube and Wii emulator, has been making strides in Android support over the past few months. It returned to the Play Store in August 2018, and a few months later, rumble emulation and other improvements were added. The latest update to the Android port has even more improvements in store, like Wii remote emulation and fixes for Android 9 Pie.

First, this month's Dolphin update drastically improves visuals in some games when using the OpenGL rendering option.

Popular music player Poweramp adds support for Android Auto

It's great that more and more vehicles ship with Android Auto these days, but I still find the app offering to be rather limited. I had to wait until last summer to finally get to use Waze instead of Maps, and even today only a handful of software is available on Google's in-car solution – beyond Waze, Spotify's the only other Auto-supporting app I use. Several other third-party music applications are integrated with the system though, and the famous Poweramp player is the latest one to make its way into your car.

Dr. Mario is coming to Android this summer

Nintendo has announced that it's bringing its Dr. Mario franchise to Android and iOS in a partnership with LINE Corporation, a Tokyo-based developer of mobile games. It will be an action puzzle game titled Dr. Mario World, and it's slated for a global release (including Japan and the US) sometime this summer. It's going to be free to download, and it will include optional in-app purchases.

This news comes hot off the heels of a recent announcement that the upcoming release of another Nintendo mobile game Mario Kart Tour has been delayed, which is now also scheduled for a summer release.

We're through January and MWC is right around the corner. To celebrate the new month, I have another list of app sales for you all. It's a lengthy one today, but it features a few games that are personal favorites of mine — particularly Sword & Sworcery and Planar Conquest, two titles that I install on every phone.

My problem with the former is the lack of support for non-16:9 aspect ratios.

Adobe Photoshop Express adds watermark resizing and enhanced vignette tools [APK Download]

The main reason I don't use a Chromebook for my work here at AP is that I can't run full Photoshop on it. Proper watermarking is one use case that hasn't been possible in the Photoshop Express Android app, but the functionality has been greatly improved in the latest update — even though most people will have found another solution for this by now.

As Adobe's changelog admits, watermark resizing was a much-requested feature, and now it's here.

Tony Hawk's Skate Jam grinds its way onto the Play Store

Back in the beginning of December 2018, Tony Hawk's Skate Jam arrived on the Play Store as a pre-registration release. A week later the title was officially released on iOS, which means the game's devs have had some time to receive player feedback and address a few notable issues. Recently added features like controls to match the old console Tony Hawk Pro Skater games and bluetooth controller support are included with today's release.

Telegram 5.3 brings new custom chat background options [APK Download]

Telegram is finally adding a revamped, full suite of customization options for chat backgrounds. Whether you want solid colors, patterns, or motion effects, this update adds them. While most new versions have several additions or improvements, Telegram is keeping things simple with v5.3.

Gboard adds support for 50 new languages

Gboard already has support for a huge number of languages, but Google still manages to add more every few months. Today, Gboard is adding support for 50 more languages including Alur, Limbu, and Northern Hindko. You probably haven't heard of any of these, but more people can use Gboard in their preferred language today.
