Samsung Gear Sport smartwatch tipped by FCC entry

Looks like the Galaxy Note 8 may not be the only thing that Samsung announces later this month.

A new Samsung smartwatch has been spotted in the FCC database. The image for the device’s FCC ID label shows that the smartwatch’s name is the Samsung Gear Sport and that its model number is SM-R600. We can also see a few squarish cutouts on the backside that could be used for heart rate sensors.

Most of the features of this Samsung Gear Sport are missing from this FCC entry, but the documents do list both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Samsung is hosting an event on August 23rd, and while it’s expected that the Galaxy Note 8 will be the focus of the event, it’s possible that this Gear Sport will be revealed there as well. Not only is that the next major event for Samsung, but it’s almost exactly one year after the Gear S3 smartwatches were announced, so we’re about due for a new Samsung smartwatch.

Have you ever tried one of Samsung’s Gear smartwatches?
