You Can Now Easily Find Events Nearby With Google Search

It’s Friday night and you have nowhere to go? Fire up Google Search and let it do its magic. Thanks to a new feature that was added recently, users can use the Google app for Android or iOS or the Google search mobile website and look for events nearby.

Just type “indie concerts” or “film viewing” into the search bar and you’ll get a list populated with upcoming events. Naturally, you’ll be able to see more details once you tap on a particular event.

The new tool allows users to search for an event on a specific date – just add today, tomorrow or next week next to your query. It’s that easy.

If you can’t decide whether you’re in the mood for a concert or an art exhibition, just type “event near me” and you’ll get to browse through them all. You’ll never miss out on a cool event again!

Google has also updated its developer guidelines, so that event creators can make sure people see their listings when searching for the next thing to do.

For the time being, the feature is limited to US users and hopefully Google won’t take long before rolling it out to other territories. Canada is just next door, so we expect to see it arrive sooner than in other markets.
