Latest Android O beta can turn WiFi on near trusted networks

WiFi isn’t a huge battery drain these days, but many users still toggle it on and off to save some juice. Phone batteries aren’t getting all that much bigger, with companies opting for slim bodies over battery life.

Google’s latest Android O beta aims to fix this issue by toggling WiFi on when you get near a trusted network. The toggle, which was grayed out in earlier Android O builds, is located in Settings > Network and internet > WiFI > WiFi preferences.

Presumably, it uses your location to know when to turn WiFi on. Since location is already being used at all times (if you have it enabled), this little trick might save you a bit of battery life when enabled. Give it a shot if you’re on the latest beta!
