Not so long ago, we brought you news that Samsung planned to integrate a Siri-like virtual assistant dubbed “Bixby” into the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship. Well, a new report coming out of Reuters confirms the information and reveals a bit more about the AI helper.

Back in October, Samsung announced the acquisition of Viv Labs – an AI platform designer ran by the co-creator of Apple’s Siri. It turns out that Samsung wants to incorporate the company’s AI virtual assistant program, Viv into its new premium flagship.

Viv or Bixby will allow customers to interact with their devices in a more intuitive, seamless way by using spoken commands. The competition including Apple, Google, Amazon and Microsoft is already offering similar service on their flagship models, so Samsung needs catch up.

On top of that, there’s a lot of pressure building up for the Galaxy S8 to be a spectacular device that will make customers and investors alike forget about the huge Galaxy Note7 fiasco.

Samsung still plans to unveil the Galaxy S8 during spring, but if it’s going to do so at MWC 2017 or not, it remains to be seen. To make sure the Galaxy S8 is truly disruptive, the Korean tech giant might want to push the launch day further on.
