T-Mobile has been the bigger wireless carrier behind MetroPCS for quite some time, lending out its wireless coverage. And now T-Mobile wants everyone to know it by putting it on the sign.
The Un-carrier has announced that it will be rebranding MetroPCS to “Metro by T-Mobile”. It has been five years since T-Mobile acquired the smaller wireless carrier, so in the grand scheme of things this change didn’t take too long. But the change in name isn’t the other thing that’s being altered following the rebranding.
From this point on, Metro by T-Mobile will be offering up new perks with its new unlimited plans. There will be two new options to choose from, with the first starting at $50 per month. With that, subscribers can get unlimited LTE data, 5GB of LTE mobile hotspot, and Google One cloud storage and mobile backup.
The second new plan starts at $60 per month and includes unlimited LTE data, 15GB of LTE mobile hotspot, Google One and even a subscription to Amazon Prime, which retails for $119 for an annual membership.
Now, for the fine print. Metro by T-Mobile’s new unlimited plans cap HD video streaming at 480p, and if you go over 35GB of data consumption in a month’s time you’ll get your network speeds throttled when you’re in an area experiencing network congestion.
These new plans will be available beginning next month.
