Xiaomi teases Mi Mix 3 with a pop-out camera for October launch

Earlier this year, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Mix 2S, which features plenty of high-end specs for anyone interested in the handset. But the company isn’t quite finished launching new devices in 2018, apparently.

Xiaomi’s Director of Product Marketing and global spokesperson, Donovan Sung, has taken to Twitter to tease the company’s newest smartphone, which will launch in October. Sung doesn’t actually include any specific information about the handset, other than the planned launch date, but all signs point to this being the Mi Mix 3, the company’s upcoming flagship handset.

Rumor has it that the Mi Mix 3 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, various models with different built-in storage options, and a big reveal date in the middle of September. Whether or not Xiaomi plans on announcing the handset in September and launching it in October remains to be seen, but it’s possible that October will serve as both the announcement and launch.

As for the picture itself, we can see that the Mi Mix 3 is going to drastically reduce the bezels on every side of the smartphone. The picture shows us the flagship will have a pop-out camera design similar to what’s available in the Oppo Find X.

Unfortunately we only get a look at the front of the handset, so we don’t know if Xiaomi is putting a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel or what the camera situation might be back there.

We don’t have long to wait before Xiaomi officially unveils the Mi Mix 3, so we’ll know all before too long. What do you think of the pop-out camera design?
